I am absolutely not saying that human trafficking doesn't exist. Where are you getting that from? Of course trafficking exists!

Nevertheless, the majority of women who are sex workers voluntarily choose their profession. They are not coerced. This is a choice they freely make as independent adults. To assume otherwise is not only patronizing, but it's the driving force of most laws worldwide that make it so much more difficult for sex workers to work in their chosen occupation.

Lots of sex workers have their own cars, by the way.

As I said I don't deny it happens here and there, but the majority of girls in the business choose their occupation freely. That remains the case.

Those are the girls we should patronize, and hopefully the places that are truly involved in bona fide trafficking and coercion will continue to get busted.

Not enough, but the 2.5 year sentence was due to a guilty plea - that'll always be less than someone would get it they went to trial and were convicted. The court also ordered the forfeit of the $4 million that was seized from him, which isn't nothing.

The cops must feel deflated. They bust their ass, investigate, arrest and charge human trafficker only to be disarmed by a liberal judge who thinks human slavery, tax evasion and possession of illegal guns is worth only a 2.5 year sentence or probation. The bright side, the state got to keep $4 million and deport the girls back to China instead of helping them with Refugee status.
