Hi Shirley,

I just visited your website, and I notice your services are Swedish, Hot Stone & Foot Reflexology. While the logo options are all beautiful, I would expect an MT who uses a yin/yang or lotus symbol to practice Asian bodywork. It's just an automatic association for me with those symbols. Clients might think that, too? I don't know. Maybe others can chime in here.

I actually like what you currently have on your website (which isn't listed in this poll). Purple background, white text, with a simple pastel flower outline behind your name. When I was designing my logo, the feedback I got from people is that "less is more." Most people preferred the simplest design.

By the way, elsewhere, what's wrong with hands in a logo?

I'm with Bliss, I like the logo on your website. It's simple, clear and unique.

Keep in mind that the simpler the logo, the easier it is to reproduce throughout your marketing materials (and therefore cheaper). I like #4.

Selecting a logo should be something that is done in conjunction with identifying what you specifically offer and under what name you offer it.

I got the same impression as Bliss that if you use the ying-yang or lotus flower that your practice focuses on eastern modalities. (But not necessarily reflexology.)

It should reflect the personality of your practice.

I also like the flower on your website.

I took the liberty to do a really bad "Paint" job with the "Surely Massage" title, because I do think it is catchy.

As I am pretty lame at the "Paint", just know this was the only font I could find that was not blocky. I like your font a lot and think you would want to keep it.

See if this at least gives you some other ideas.

I think you may be able to do an open concept with the flower for "spot logos". Maybe just the flower without the purple background?

My vote was for #6. I am partial to one that does not have a yin/yang in it, and doesn't look too super-girly. (Rainbows and flowers both tend to look more feminine than gender-neutral, to me - this is something I struggle with about my own business logo).

When I see yin yang I think of balance, harmony and health. And that massage can help you balance your health.

No, Great Lakes, I have never thought of Surely Massage. Something to consider.

The flower came with the template so don't think I can use it as a logo but I do find it very pretty. I did consider going with a simple flower and that is how I can up with the one with the lotus drawing one.

I like the ones that are crisp and clear, not imbedded within a flower or anything else. These will be the easiest to replicate.

The other thing you also should consider is... are you licensed certified, etc according to your state? I orignially did not have "Licensed" on my materials and people who knew that NYS needed to be licensed, didn't even want to bother.

I am also thinking about creating a logo so that I have the imprint on my promotional materials, as well as possibly a shirt or hat down the line...

I think you can use the logo even though it came with the template. Just tweak it a bit. -- Any comments on that everyone?

Also, I recall we had a discussion about logos quite some time back and there is a forum where you can post ideas and then "logo making people" can tweak and work with the idea online in the forum and when someone comes up with something you like -- I think you re-imburse them for it?

Does anyone else recall that thread?

I am not sure about what you mean by not embedded with anything. Just the name and no image at all?

I am certified and looking into a license if I can ever get in touch with the office to find out how. Every time I call I get a machine and have left a message with no return call. How rude is that? I live in OK so really no need for a license unless I want to work in OK City.

That would be great to get that link. I have read some of the logo posts but don't recall that one.

I appreciate all the advice and ideas. I think it is helping me narrow it down some.

I think it was eforum.xxx lines rather than logos, if I remember correctly.
