Fly...James Bond comes to mind, you must be in the know w/in six months they will be renting power packs to expedite border crossing, right.
At least a boat is real it is too bad neither the Mex. or US has even considered an idea like that. Granted it would be more trouble than what it is worth.

There is a no fly zone w/in tj area if I am not mistaken unless authorized by law on either side, flight corridors "do not count" ie Mexican airlines.
As a matter of fact, there are no flights from tj to Mexicali unless you are w/the cartel. Several yrs ago looked into it. Brown airport does not receive hardly any travel flights as you mention definitely not between Mex/US.

Fly never thought of that...would prefer a boat ride across or something like that, also assume it would take even longer by boat since they would check it real good looking for drugs and such. Assume Amer/Mex patrol the mighty seas for runaway boats out at bay. Realize most Mexican would not be able to afford a luxury like that. But there was a way to ferry me from the dock in TJ to downtown SD would gladly pay at least 35 to 40 dollars. Boat would have room for your vehicle as well. Think you have seen those types of boats or ships in movies. Another way to get across...and beat traffic.

Respect your position but find it a bit strange that an individual truly believes they could make it from DelMar to the line in 15 -25 minutes irregardless of what time they set out .
Recently , I leave Playas ( 7 miles to line ) at 4:00 AM to beat the morning on-slaught and it takes 15 minutes in good weather simply to get in line ; that is with a car at my disposal; how do you do it fly ?

I think a more important question would be how do you accept not having the independence you must be accustomed to being without wheels and the freedom to go where you want , when you want.

Walk across the border is not assimalating to Mexican life any more than the post that started this thread Otay to Playas is request coming from a pedestrian

Also interesting is the Del Mar introduction and choosing to walk across the border. No US citizen with sufficient money to exist would be without their Independence in Tijuana

pocodinero the reason everythings vague are inconstant because everybody different.I work nights so I cross 2 hours after its get dark.The longest wait crossing at San Ysidro on foot for me has been 15min's.This is Sunday-Thursday nights.

I rent a 3 bed room house thats 950$ a month.The beach is 500feet from my house.My house is in a gated community.The area I am located in is San Antonio Del Mar.Its about 15 to 25 mins to get to the broader.

Have not rode a bike in over 12 years, before that another 10 years when I was in my early twenties. Time is critical, have considered getting a bike unfortunately people do not watch out for motorcycles on either side of the border. With that said, it appears that is the best way to travel between spring and fall season. Pocodinero, greatly appreciate the comments. Thanks

Questions posted have merrit . Problem I see is they are vague and a lot of input is required to respond based upon my experience . .

Example : crossing times are faster at Certain times on Certain days ( nothing remains constant ) , rent is inexpensive depending on what you wish to concede in amenities and more important peace , etc....( never ending list ). If you desire the independence afforded by an automobile ( mandatory since age 16 ) that is another problem that should be addressed.

dino; crossing by car into Mex San Ysidro is usually no more than 5-10 minutes . Otay - Mesa crossing to Centro - Zona- Playas can be Avg 40+ minutes . Caution , Mex entry Authorities are expanding and 50% more cars are being inspected then Dec 2009 and SDPD or other US/Local Gvt Authoritities just luv to throw up inspections when least expected. End result a time delay going into Mex from US.

killit; condo's, all real estate located by the beach , are less expensive if rented in fall & winter. If you are comfortable with a unobstructed ocean view ; 2 bd for $500 month can tell you right where to go. Might have to walk up 5 stories with 5 gallons water on shoulder as elevators are rusted out and put up with music ( I think it is music ) but it is cheap...

Was about to hit the " send " key when I noticed CuminTJ posts. ( Opinion )What a bunch of bad info . Morning wait time from Mexico to USA is 45 minutes to 1 hour at San Ysidro Port of Entry. Know this becaused in the past 13 years have made that crossing 1500+ times.

Yes, there are about a couple hundred thousand TJ residents that commute 5 or 6 times per week to jobs or school in San Diego, that's the reason why the border wait is so long in the mornings

Morning waiting time at the border averages 2hrs by car, 30 minutes on foot.

The fastest way to cross the border is on motorcycle, they simply cut to the front of the line and go through with no wait at all.

If you mean Playas de Tijuana then $400 will get you a nice place.

I don't know about driving across.(Anytime I drove across it was like 3 in the morning.)But walking across I never had a problem at San Ysidro.(longest wait 15mins.I also go across at strange times.)

Usually how long does it take to get from tj side thru San Isidro cross on a weekly or semi weekly basis? versus using otay border crossing? Know it is a chore to cross when I had to return to the states for what ever reason.
Once down there, and pretty much stuck until I move again...

pocodinero hit the nail on the head.But this might help you. I think there is housing and apartments in the otay-Tijuana side before you reach the broader to cross to the U.S.. So dino you can use the otay gate,but I don't know how far the drive to the zone is, from that area.

If your destination is Playas/Centro/Zona much time would be wasted by entering via Otay ; best entry would be thru San Ysidro.

Why would you consider Otay-Mesa if you wish to go to Playas....
Otay entry is appealing given the fact that it is a five minute excursion down the 905 at 55 MPH+. Great Port of Entry if going East, assuming there is no commercial interest underlying your post.

Once inside paradise ( Baja ) it is a minimum of 20 minutes to Playas , at best.. You have rain , accidents, military inspections and a number of other obsticles. Gave that Otay entry up years ago.

No, it actually does make some sense when you think about it. You are more likely to want to have a handgun to commit a crime than a shotgun. Walking about with a shotgun is going to arouse some serious suspicion unless you are out in the countryside hunting. Walking around with a handgun is not going to arouse any suspicion since a criminal will effectively be able to conceal the handgun. Anyway, that's the rational. Obviously, if you are creative, you could also conceal a shotgun.
