I think anything the government is doing is just so that they can say they did something and it isn't their fault people got sick or died. Hate to be so skeptical but they are just covering their asses. Next election they don't want people looking back and saying you did nothing and all those people died, its your fault.

Of course they're covering their asses. That's even a semi official acronym, CYA. But, at the same time there really is no solver bullet

The really stupid ones are the ones going to these weddings and having large gatherings. There's nothing wrong with responsible shopping or even being carefully distant in a restaurant. But events that invite close physical proximity, kissing, hugging, etc, these are stupid.

That's true but they close off a lot of the machines now so they are spaced very far apart. Even in the locker room, most lockers are closed off, the ones that are open are spaced far apart.

But I'm only talking the larger gyms. I know there was that incident (I think in Hamilton) regarding that spinner class...yeah, they should cancel those 'group' sessions. I go in, do my own thing and then leave. No one close to me the entire time...

Once you exhale hard the virus in aerosol form floats around farther and the indoor air condition will circulate all those aerosol form virus all over the gym. All the masks leak, the only thing the mask do best is to prevent you from touching your mouth and nose. That's why Dr Lim said not to shout or whisper while wearing masks. He said whispering is worst cuz you get too close to other person's face and you may be breathing in all those leaked aerosol form viruses. Be careful when you are talking to your elderly parents with hearing problems even tho' you both are wearing masks.

At the gym, there's only around 20-30 people in a huge open space and usually there's only a couple of people on the cardio machines that are breathing hard. Most people are using the machines or free weights.

Funny enough, after my session the other day, the MPA started spraying disinfectant into the air...man, can't be good for the MPAs to be breathing that shit day in and day out.

I agree with what you are saying that the ones making these decisions are looking to stop the super spreader events I am still looking for the data to back up the decision they make. I know there is the example of the spin class in Hamilton and I believe a wedding in Vaughan. However, if we look back to the Brass Rail incident, they said up to 500 people could be infected, but I believe the number turned out to be around 4, but I could be mistaken and it may have been a little higher. I know in the US when South Dakota decided to hold the Sturgis bike rally which has thousands of people show up there were some people forecasting over a million infections, think there have been around 10 confirmed that were at Sturgis who got diagnosed with covid and it didn't say they caught it there. There were the kids who went partying on the beach in Florida and everyone freaked out about and I believe there were 2 cases from that event. Another event in the Ozarks and that one I am not sure if anyone became infected.

Then we can look at bars and restaurants. Before they decided to shut them down in Ottawa they had 3 cases over a 12 week period, during that same time Toronto had 27 attributed to the bars and restaurants.

If you want to see where the super spreader events are taking place, look no further than the long term care homes. It was announced that 32 people died in Toronto yesterday, 29 were over the age of 70 and of that 26 were residents of long term care homes.

I think they are focusing their efforts too broadly and should do more to protect the long term care and retirement residences.

If Lockdown happens yep spas are closed for sure. You can go to an incall they will still will be available. Many agencies and independent girls stopped working in march during the first lockdown. Wonder how many girls will be doing incall if we lockdown again

You are neglecting the fact that the MPA may have also come into contact with the virus outside of the spa.

You have a vested interest in keeping the spa full. While the risk may not be the same as a gym it is certainly greater than getting it from a hair cut.

My observation at gyms is that maybe 5% of the patrons are actually breathing hard. Most people just go through the motions just for toning up.
Equipment is wiped before and after each use.
Spin classes and such is a different story. 10 people breathing hard while in a cardio session which is impossible with a mask which would be useless is a cesspool for whatever anyone is carrying.

Asian MPAs and majority of Asian people take more seriously in dealing with virus and they do their best to protect from getting infected. Hence less risk.
I had my hair cut 2 days ago and I told my barber to stop talking cuz i don't want him leaking his breath hovering over my head even tho we both had masks on.

Gyms on the other hand has aerosol form of viruses circulating through the air conditioning system all the time and you are breathing in. Wiping and cleaning gym equipment help clean droplets, that's all. Can't do anything to stop viruses floating in the air in the gym.

My main concern is crowded places like gyms, bars, wedding halls and so on.
Watch out for the next 2 weeks case counts. Crazy crowd at York dale malls and Eaton center. I won't be surprised if it goes over 2000 cases in a few weeks after those people are tested.
