3000 illegal massage parlours?

In today's Toronto 24 hrs councillor Mammoliti claims there are 3000 illegal massage parlours in the city and 90 in his riding of York West. He and other councillors further claim they are run by organized crime rings.

I like how Mammoliti posted a note on the door of one Milvan Dr. Spa demanding that they leave his York West riding. How NIMBY of him!

He said there are about 3,000 of the illegal parlours in the city, with 90 in his riding alone.

If they are in fact illegal, why doesn't he call the Police?

The market is shrienking as each day with recession is passing, how would 3000 such establishments would get clients from? Tourist flow has also decreased this year due to our Canadian $ getting pricely day by day, then the on-going economic crisis would not keep the figure of 3000 illegal Massage Spas alive at the present day.
Maybe there must be around 1,000 illegal entertainment places all over the cities of GTA.

They probably refused to pay him some 'special' taxes. It's also pretty nasty of him to be making allegations about a place that:
a) has a city issued license, and
b) although it appears to have violated the bylaws and criminal laws, the case is still before the courts. What happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty?

How many massageplanet.net members are there? how many lonely guys, horney guys, and guys that just want a good time? I really don't understand what all the hype is anyway, if I want to pay to get a massage or to get a BJ, who the @#$ cares? although it would be kinda nice to have some sort of health check done by mpa's regularly (the one's that do offer a little extra) but just like the post about mp's getting together and fighting this, i belive that toronto should get with the time's! I work almost 14 hours a day, and when i get home my wife is sleeping, I'm a man with needs and unfortuanatly and fortuanatly I do have a spa to go to, just to relax! It did look like blatant self-promotion. Just wants some kind of positive press to make it look like he is this clean, angelic and moral 'politician'. You are right, if they are illegal, shut them down. If not, SHUT up!

And in my case, i am a single father, 4 years divorced, and very busy, working a full time job, while fulfilling my parenting obligations, and traveling, etc etc. Long story short, if i want to have an erotic experience, it is much easier, convienient, more economical, and less of a waste of time for me to make an appt with a MP, pay for the service, and then be on my way, instead of having to go a bar, buy drinks, try to pick up a girl or get her number, then court her for 2-4 more dates, then eventually get intimate, and then have to deal with the politics, attitudes and interpersonal issues that then come with it.

Why should only married people be allowed to have 'moral' sex? I want some intimacy too sometimes (not even talking about sex here), but why should i be forced to endure the latter option?

Land of the free my ass. Who is some MP to say i should not be allowed to enjoy some intimacy, which is a basic human need, with someone else willing to provide it. No victims....everyone is happy....only the moral police and self promoters try to turn into a reflection on them.

Here is a real problem for the politicians to solve. My friend owns a small store on Queen West. Every day there several scruffy looking youths who hang around his door and scare away customers. They said they are from Quebec because welfare rates are better in Ontario. He has to pay them to go away.

Here is another one. Maybe the politicians can ask the police to stop arresting shopkeepers for apprehending shoplifters.

In all the years I've lived around Toronto and have been a constant visitor for both work an business, I've never been failed to be astonished by its sense of self important entitlement. Porter Airlines runs a sublimely fine flying experience compared to Air Crapada, and there's a mayor that wants to metaphorically throw rocks at it to satisfy a small community of narcissists of around (I dunno-what-100 houses) on the island and who now wants to quit because he smells failure. Good for his constitutuents who were stuck there because of the ferry strike and had to hire alternative means of transportation to their little piece of heaven. Not to mention what a third world toilet Union Station used to be.

Who knows that the MP sales pitch is going to be for a city that can't deal with a decaying infrastructure, garbage collection, and the abandonment of its responsibility to provide support for families and children that needed recreational relief in the dog days of summer. Maybe Mayor Miller can get a well deserved job as the ambassador to North Korea.

Not much point to the above but I feel better.

Yes this is an issue that has to be dealt with real soon. They should not be on the sidewalk at all. If they can give out fines for use of phone while driving, then why not with cyclists riding on the sidewalks.
