If I was in the ladies position, there are some types of ladies that I would not want to see, such as obese, old ,ugly, severely disabled but usually not based on race.
They make some choices of who to see and who are off-limits. They probably aren't thinking of polite black men. When they say NO BLACK MEN, they're likely referring to a small but overly emphasized segment of the black population. And who could blame them if they did that? I myself feel uncomfortable with people who look like that. Is it unfair to those who dress that way? Yes. But there is a stigma associated with that look and if you don't want to be seen as a thug, maybe you shouldn't dress that way then.

I've seen ads with "no thugs, pimps, hagglers", etc. I appreciate the effort to avoid racial stereotypes, but sadly I doubt this actually works. It stings a bit when I see "no brown guys", but I get it. It's a blunt tool.

Sadly it doesn't work much because those ad restrictions don't weed out the undesirable whereas race is a much broader scope. It really sucks but to a sex worker, her odds of avoiding the bad segment of an ethnic group improve exponentially. She loses out on some really nice guys, maybe even the rare good looking one but it's up to her to weigh the pros and cons.

It's a damn shame what happened to you but if you look at a Guyanese or Trini, if one does not look close enough, black and brown people do get confused for one another. That may be the case with your skin tone and facial features (haircut, facial hair etc.). Lots of brown guys nowadays can pass for black men especially when they sport fades and lineups while wearing hoodies and draped in jewelry.
