Starting ITEC Holistic Massage Course - any advice

Hello,
I'm going to look round a college (Wilbury School in Brighton) this evening, and hopefully, if I like it, signing up for an ITEC in holistic massage.
Has anyone had any experience of the college?
Does anyone have any advice on what I should look out for, or avoid, or questions I should ask?
And finally, what have your experiences of studying this course been? Some posts seem to imply that ITEC is not terribly thorough?

I did ITEC Holistic Massage course nearly two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. If I can help you in anyway dont hesitate to ask. I have lots of sample questions and notes if you are interested I can send them on to you.

Its something I have wanted to do for a while, and have just recently decided I have to go for it Now! No more procrastinating!
Did you study f/t or p/t? And work while you studied?

Hi Nikki,

I undertook my ITEC Holistic Massage exam a few weeks ago. I don't have any experience of the college you mention, but I thoroughly enjoyed my course. I think the problems people have experienced are down to colleges and not to ITEC.

I did the course in 6 months and it was heavy going, but still thoroughly enjoyable. The ITEC website has detailed information and my college, particularly my teacher, wereexcellent.

Regarding the college you are interested in - maybe you could ask to sit in a class to see what it is like? also check whether it is a local authority college, that way you can also check government reports for standards. Maybe you could ask how many people will be in the class? what the structure of lessons will be? and what experience the teachers have (in teaching and in holistic massage).

Good luck with your new venture ! I also decided to change direction and have never regretted it.

Thanks for the food for thought, I will certainly add you questions to my list of what to ask tonight
I'm really looking forward to working towards something I really want to do, instead of just working to pay the bills, if you know what I mean!
Are you practicing full time now? Any plans for further courses? I'd like to do IHM as well after I have qualified ... but mustn't get ahead of myself Have got a wish list tho, which I will keep adding to.

PM your details and will sort everything out for you over the Easter break. I work full time so only have time for my therapies evenings and week ends. You will really enjoy the course. I live in Ireland so with regard to the college I cannot help you there. There is alot of study involved with regard to A & P but you will enjoy it.
