wow there is so much room around here, on this new forum

does this mean we are no longer part of the ST

by the way, i dont like the fact we are based within the massage section, wouldn't of been much better to be part of the sports therapies forum

or better still have our own forum therapy

Personally I think sports massage therapists will have more in common with sports therapy but at least now they have a choice

I see this as more an area for sports massuers to debate separately from body / holistc type massage not to alienate sports massage therapists from sports therapists

Also since SRTC have different syllabi for sports massage and sports therapy it makes sense (to me anyway) to have separate areas

I also believe (I'm sure sportstherapy / BGFL will correct me if I'm wrong) that sports massage is regulated by GCMT sooner than CNHC and if so there will inevitably be different debates

just thought it would be better under the sports therapies section rather than the massage forum section as we are still titled "sports" after all

but yes i agree it is good and long over due that there is a sports massage forum section

it shall be interesting if any of the ST's come over and have a peek at whats going on in SM world

Sports massage as DFNU correctly identiifes is currently within the remit of GCMT as it is an individual modality of massage ( however it is not regulated in any form) . However when you look at the GCMT website it states that GCMT now consists of the chair(SMA) the chair of education (SMA), chair of communications ( thinly veiled ex officio with strong SMA links), SMTO, LCSP and a number of small training school linked PAs it is not representing any where near a majority of sports massage therapists. It is therefore unable to police the number of substandard courses and schools issuing prctitioner diplomas and certificates falling well short of their own published standards
All the standards, syllabus and core curricula for sports masaage were written (and copyrighted) by GCMT PA council members who were expelled by the previous chair, together who represent tens of thousands massage PA members, These expelled members are the same people who have all the experience of regulation, sector skills council, federal working group experience and all of whom now advise the CNHC in their profession specific roles.

I suspect it is part of the master plan for world domination on the part of one PA.

STO has applied to join GCMT via the official website link but it seems they are being ignored??????? perhaps they are seen as a threat to lower standards and as a trouble causer for whistle blowing the number of Major awarding organisation sports massage courses currently achievable in approx 2-7 days ( minimum guided learning hours for QCF award is 80 hours) STO have a number of sports massage practitioners who meet the NOS and core curricula, ( not the level 1 kind with no massage training) ( see previous threads)

if the therapies work then they should be excepted across the board, not seen as better or worse than each other but different in their own right

just thought I would add that the GCMT SM core curricula is minimum entry requirement for entry onto SRTC ST core curricula

GCMT core curricula and NOS is minimum entry for CNHC massage register from sept 2011, we have fought for this at CNHC after a number of registrants have applied through a PA with minimal training which meets only selected parts of the NOS,
